ABOUT THE ROLE 

Bionews is looking for full-time science writers to join our new Resource Page department on the Science team.

We are seeking individuals with PhDs in the life or natural sciences to write accurate and detailed informational pages about topics related to chronic and rare diseases. The ideal candidate is someone with a health/science/medical background with a talent for writing engaging articles that explain complex topics accurately, simply, and clearly for a lay audience.   As a science writer for Bionews, you will be tasked with creating evergreen pages on a variety of scientific topics related to specific rare and chronic conditions, including symptoms, causes, diagnosis, as well as treatments and other disease-relevant topics. You must be able to explain complex research and concepts clearly, accurately, and thoroughly in terms that patients and caregivers can understand. 

This is a full-time remote position open to U.S. candidates only. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Research and write evergreen informational pages, with an emphasis on accuracy, clarity, and ease of understanding.

  • Perform in-depth background research using reputable sources.

  • Work with editors to ensure the content is accurate and thorough.

  • Contribute to the creation of visuals. 

  • Follow search engine optimization (SEO) guidance.

  • Be able to travel and cover scientific meetings worldwide.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in life or natural science disciplines (cell biology, neurology, molecular biology, microbiology, biomedical sciences, immunology, etc.); a master’s degree in these disciplines may be considered for talented candidates.

  • Prior experience in health/medical/science writing for a lay audience (preferred)
